Great experience, great service. Outside patio bring is a must during spring and summer. Reservation are recommended during weekends as the place is usually packed during brunch hours.
MoreWe enjoyed our meals with our friends and all agreed the food was great. A little too crowded for my taste. I like a little more room so we can talk to our company. My steak was well done and not medium rare like I ordered it. I hate sending things back, but when you pay these prices it should be perfect. The waiter asked how things were so I reluctantly told him. He was visibility annoyed and I watched him as he walked over to the manager to show her the steak. Very unprofessional service! Just pretend, then do and say what you want out of my line of sight... Oh well. The steak came back perfectly. Thankfully I'm a fast eater and I finished my dinner at the same pace as my group.
MoreThe food is good but it isn't going to blow your mind for the price you pay for it. Service is not the best it took forever to get seated even though there were so many tables open and then it took awhile before we got any drinks. We weren't very happy with the hostess, we asked about happy hour and she didn't acknowledge what we said at all, come to find out they do not have HH during the weekend but we stayed for dinner anyways. Have been here for happy hour before and the service was a lot quicker.
MoreThis takes the top spot for our favorite restaurant! I can't say enough about this place. They have their own farm for local fresh and creative produce which leads to their seasonal and tasty recipes that are just excellent! The staff makes you really feel at home and comfortable there. The place is lit with low warm lighting and the decor is a perfect mix of comfortable with stylish - very well done. I hear the patio is amazing. This place is the perfect place for a drinks, business meetings, a family meal or a romantic date. You will be guaranteed to get high quality and nutritious food with five-star recipes. I would be a regular if I could afford it... the prices are what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. I have been to many others of this price range but none could compare to the level of this place!
MoreInstantly noticed the interesting and fun interior that dates back to many years ago but still feels kept up to date. The menu was very impressive, and came with an insert that explained that current fresh produce from their farms. The menu also called out their sources for various ingredients like cheeses. The pantry plate was a wonderful way to try a bunch of their different small dishes. I got the mushroom risotto and it was prepared fantastically! My only qualm was the attitude from the waitress upon inquiring about adding some chicken to our salad and splitting our check. She seemed very annoyed with what I felt were reasonable requests, but maybe she was just having a bad shift?Overall awesome dining experience! Great food for the price. I will most certainly be returning here to try more items from the menu!
MoreQuality food, nice atmosphere
The best rack of lamb and brussel sprouts I have ever had. Also brunch with cocktails like no other.
MoreThis magical restaurant is set to close temporarily while it’s home is being remodeled. Be sure to check if it’s open yet before going; it is truly one of Portland‘s great treasures and during the time of its hiatus (summer 2018) It will certainly be missed.
MoreThe Building and grounds at Meriwether's Restaurant are very romantic… We have been passing by for years, and finally decided to give them a try to celebrate a recent family event…The Shrimp Bisque and the Vanilla Maple Crème Brûlée were good… The Fish & Chips that I ordered were really only mediocre… As high as their prices were the meal was disappointing. Also note - The women’s restroom was terrible! Very dark, and the stalls were smaller than a phone booth! We would probably only ever go back for soup…
MoreI highly recommend this restaurant
Just went here for my birthday. It was quite expensive, but you're paying for quality here. The food is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the tastes go well together. I liked the way a lot of the dishes seemed really creative (I'd have never thought to include pickled cherries but they sure were tasty!). The drinks there are great too, not too sweet. I also appreciated the subdued but not stiflingly fancy atmosphere. Obviously, you'll want to make reservations if you're working on a specific timetable or have a larger party. On a side note, the location is nice and has good parking, is readily accessible by public transit, and less than 10 minutes away from a lot of interesting shops over in the Northwest district; this is useful if you want to make a full day of your visit to Portland. Summary: All the buzz I'd heard was right, and it's great for any celebrations, just be prepared to either spend a lot or split the bill.
MoreIt is actually a lot bigger inside. The staff are the best. Service is great. They have their own parking lot. The coffee is wonderful. I was offered fresh orange juice as soon as we were seated. We just had a simple breakfast. It was very relaxing despite all the people.
MoreFeels like stepping into an old house built in the early 1900s. Plenty of historic pictures to keep your eyes busy. Upscale feel but warm and friendly. Perfect place to bring a visitor.
MoreAnother gem in the portfolio of great dining establishments - and we've been multiple times in the past 10 weeks. Vegan ground members were happy, carnivores were happy, and all farm-to-table fresh and creative!Sunday night 8pm can be surprisingly quiet - good time for an intimate meal with friends where a conversation is paramount. Other times the place is crawling with folks and lots of fun! Try the patio dining, too....
MoreI have a hard time believing the arrogance for a place that puts on their menu a 2% charge because they believe that the minimum wage is too high. When the electric goes up or the water bill seems to never stop going up, is there a charge on the menu for that? How about when you make staffing mistakes is there a charge for that? Of course there is. It is called a PRICE INCREASE.Feel free to charge whatever you believe the value of your menu items are. Let the guests decide if they value it equally. To post a position on the wages for the very staff that work evenings, weekends and holidays is horrible. After seeing your prices my expectations raised, but seeing you putting that on the menu is reason for me to never go there again. Good luck, I hope it all works out for you. I bear you no ill will.
MoreIf you like being over-charged for under-whelming service, this place is for you. Pretentious and overpriced. The food is good, but does not merit the prices. Dish choices are rather limited. The first impression is ruined by unfriendly hostesses with an attitude. Does it really take three people to manage a reservation list? Customers with a prior reservation still have to wait, even though the restaurant is mostly empty inside. No choice of inside versus outside seating is offered, in spite of tables availability. One of the few truly disappointing experiences in Portland, OR.
MoreMeriwether's does a great job. They provide a welcoming atmosphere with farm to table fare. It's a wonderful place to come for brunch. Best of all, there was no line.
MoreHardly any food for what you pay.. not worth it. Crazy small restrooms and 2% surcharge due to minimum wage increase. Not recommended.. although the ambiance is nice.
MoreWe used to love their happy hour. It recently changed and doesn't showcase the amazing food offered here. Service was good and the drink is were unique and delicious. Just wish the happy hour had the same creative flare as before.
MoreService ambience is great.I really liked the fish and chips.
Great service and very good food.
Awesome service, great food, fantastic atmosphere
I had high hopes for this restaurant as it promoted its farm fresh and healthy menu. My wife and I with two kids finished a meal and were disappointed on the portion size, kids menu and appetizers provided with the food. The food itself is good, but I don't believe it is worth the price they charge. Don't get me wrong, a 20 dollar steak is worth the money if it completes three things 1. It is enough food 2. It is well cooked and seasoned and 3. It is presented well. With out one of these criteria, a restaurant misses the point of fine dining. Still after completely eating my food, I am hungry. Some one missed the idea of a meal. I believe this place to eat will do well, but unfortunately for my wife and two kids, it will be and expensive redo if things change.FYI on kids menus: its 12 dollars for any of the meals for kids. They didn't post it on the menu.
MoreI'll start with what I love about it: the building! And the outdoor seating is beautiful. They will be closed after Mother's Day weekend to build a new building. Will still host private events in this historic location. I don't love the prices . It's way too expensive for the food. Not much is offered on the plate as far as flavor . I had the chicken and waffles for brunch and was underwhelmed. It was so dry. A tiny ( one cup size) fresh squeezed orange juice is $5! I've been there a few years ago and loved it, went last week and everything wasn't how I remembered. Hope the new location will take some of these reviews into consideration.
MoreService was slow one of the two times I dined here. They brought me the wrong meal and the food was good but not amazing. Patio seating looked really cool but it was all full and had to sit inside, despite making reservations. Inside ambiance is nice though. Great for business meetings.
MoreI like the concept of farm to table. They also have daily menus depending on what is available to them that day. The food really is delicious. Not saying this is a problem but the hours are a little different ghery aren't open regular hours. I think it has to do with the area it is in.
MoreNice restuarant, where they grow their own! Was a bit taken back with their prices, but then, I felt under-dressed for this cute little place. More upscale, but all are welcome. What we ate was superbly fixed and presented. Great place for that special night out!
MoreIf you're looking for a restaurant with beautiful outdoor seating, this is your place. It's just far enough away from the heart of downtown that you can enjoy a quiet evening in a magical garden, but close enough in that you don't feel like you have to go incredibly out of your way to get here. The food is plated beautifully, though the portions seem a little on the smaller end. It's a romantic setting for a special occasion, but probably wouldn't choose this place for just a standard date night.
MorePleasant service and the food was fresh and of high quality, much of which is from their own local farm. Value is severely lacking, however. I ordered the clam tagliatelle, which was fantastic, but I expected more than four (yes, only four) clams on top of the dish. No chopped clams amongst the dish, the "clam" portion was basically a garnish. Almost made me feel ripped off after paying $26 for a small plate of mostly pasta. Worth a try but don't come hungry.
MoreLove love love this place. The family are fabulous, the service outstanding while the flavors and beverages memorable!
MoreExcellent food in a very quaint building. Loved it.
Hadn't been there for ages. Was surprised to see that a spring salad was $14. Hot tea $4.50. Can not go back at those prices even though it was tasty and the salad was big. The tea cup was ice cold and the hot water turned warmish when I poured it into the cup. I would expect warm cups for a $4.50 cup of tea.
MoreA go to place. Wife wants to go there for special occasions. Farm fresh food. Great menu. Changes daily.
